Shenzhen is located in Guangdong province, adjacent to Hong Kong and bordering Dongguan city and Huizhou city. As China's first Special Economic Zone, Shenzhen's pleasant climate and picturesque coastal and mountain scenery have turned it into an attractive travel destination, which earned a place on The New York Times' list of the world's 31 must-visit destinations. It is also a major transport hub for travellers entering and departing China.
For travellers, Shenzhen offers 271 kilometres of coastline serving up high-quality beaches; a vibrant metropolitan lifestyle with cultural and entertainment attractions, shopping malls, food streets and nightlife districts; 15 golf clubs, including one of the world's largest; and a selection of amusement parks that has made the city China's true capital of theme parks.
Climate and Clothing
Shenzhen has a humid subtropical climate. Temperatures in January range between 12°C and 20°C. Warm clothing is recommended during the day.
The Chinese yuan (CNY / RMB) is the unit of currency. The exchange rate of the Chinese yuan to the US Dollar is about 6.4. Most currencies and travellers' cheques can be changed at banks and hotels. Major credit cards are readily accepted in Shenzhen.
The electricity is supplied at alternating current and the voltage is 220 volts/frequency 50Hz. Most hotels provide adapters and Shenzhen is having a three pin plug which is common to Australia and New Zealand. The two vertical pin socket is widely used.
Public transport is inexpensive, efficient and frequent. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) allows easy passage throughout the territory. Buses, trams and metered taxis are inexpensive and easily available.2 minute walk from Hui Zhan Zhong Xin MTR Station

Most hotels in Shenzhen add 10% service charge and 6% VAT Tax to the bill as service charge. However, some restaurants and cafes do not impose service charges. Additional service tips to waiters/waitresses and tour guides are common.
